International Lipidomics Society
At the beginning of 2024, we joined a project organized by the International Lipidomic Society, which aims to harmonize concentrations for selected lipids in human plasma. This study should help to define the correct procedures in quantitative lipidomic analysis and at the same time reveal pitfalls and shortcomings of individual methods.
During the study, several different human plasma samples provided by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST, USA) were analyzed and at the same time a unique mixture of internal standards was prepared by the leading producer, Avanti Polar Lipids (USA) and for their quantitative analysis
25 laboratories from around the world participated in the study, with some of them using more than one of their methods for analysis. A total of 34 result reports were obtained. The results of our measurement have also been submitted for central processing and are currently being evaluated. After the evaluation of data sets from all participating laboratories, it is expected that they will be published in one of the prestigious scientific journals.
